We all network for different reasons, but this is an opportunity to Network with a Purpose.
Our group, modeled after Ben Franklin's Junto, is going to change the world, one professional at a time. Our purpose is to better ourselves, our business associates, and our community and in doing so, we will all prosper.
We hold a monthly networking meeting, and 80% of every dollar raised is donated to a charity.
This month, we are sponsoring Jenn Einhorn in her foal to rase money for the American Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Awareness. As most of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month which
A Bit About Jenn and the Cause:
On October 25th 2009 I am participating in the American Cancer Society, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. More than just a walk, Making Strides describes the progress being made to fight this disease, provide comfort and hope and save lives from breast cancer.
Each step tells a story. I am walking to find a cure, I am walking for Sharon.
My friend Sharon is 45 years old, a wife, a daughter, a mother of three. This April following a routine mammogram, Sharon was told that she had a lump in her breast that was suspicious; words every woman fears. Further testing revealed that the lump was a malignant tumor and that it was not caught at an early stage. Sharon immediately decided to have a double mastectomy but before doing so the doctors suggested a bone scan. This scan revealed that the cancer had spread throughout Sharon’s body. Of particular concern were tumors found in her legs and hips. The lump in Sharon’s breast became a secondary issue to the need for an immediate double hip replacement. If Sharon fell and injured her legs or hips in any way, the cancer would spread rapidly.
One month ago, Sharon had both of her hips replaced following a full round of chemotherapy aimed at shrinking and stopping the growth of her tumors. Having completed the excruciatingly painful surgery and now actively receiving physical therapy so that she can walk again, Sharon is currently undergoing radiation therapy for the tumors in her hips. She is waiting to be healthy enough to have the mastectomy.
Sharon is fighting for her life. I want to help.
Chances are, you’ve been affected by breast cancer in some way, and Making Strides gives you the power to fight back and make a difference. Let me leave you with the following.

· 2.4 million women living in the U.S. have been diagnosed with and treated for breast cancer.
· An estimated 40,610 breast cancer deaths are anticipated this year.
